EDWIDGE DANTICAT (b. 1969, Port-au- Prince, Haiti) is the author of the novels Breath, Eyes, Memory, an Oprah Book Club selection, and Claire of the Sea Light, a New York Times Notable Book. The recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Grant, Danticat is the author or editor of eighteen books, including several for children and young adults, and the recipient of multiple prizes, including a National Book Critics Circle Award, an American Book Award, and the Story Prize. She has also been named a finalist for a National Book Award (twice) and the PEN/ Faulkner Award. Her essays and stories have been published in the New Yorker, the New York Times, and many other publications. Her new story collection, Everything Inside, is forthcoming in 2019. Danticat lives in Miami with her husband and two daughters.
