September 28, 2012

The end of this year's Neustadt Festival is just hours away, but the attendance, energy, and excitement around the events this year have been unmatched. Take a look at our second gallery of festival highlights including shots from the documentary film screening, panel discussions, and performances of scenes from Tamasha's adaptation of Rohinton Mistry's A Fine Balance.

In the panel discussion featuring Susan Andrade, Emily Rook-Koepsel, and Sudha Bhuchar, the women brought forth insightful, inspiring perspectives on the effects of Mistry's writing. Andrade highlighted how Mistry's characters all "teeter on the edge of various forms of survival," and Bhuchar said Mistry's work "compells the reader to empathize and examine their own lives."

The second panel discussion featuring Been Kamlani, Vijay Seshadri, and Samrat Upadhyay was equally engaging and insightful. Kamlani said, "In Mistry's work, Bombay comes to life again... the Bombay left behind," and Upadhyay summarized the conversation saying Mistry "integrates the micro and the macro beautifully."
